Job Description:

This is a SEASONAL / Part-Time Position (April - December)

Key traits for the Railroad Entertainment / Train Host candidate:

  • Excellent speaking voice that is clear and enthusiastic
  • Entertainment attitude and disposition
  • Outgoing personality / personable / good humor / engaging
  • Physically able (lifting, climbing and stamina required)
  • Available to work a flexible schedule - including holidays, weekends and evenings
  • Knowledge of the area is very helpful as is a historical knowledge of Connecticut
  • Focused and able to multi-task

Experience and Skills:

The Railroad Entertainment Train Host Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • On-board entertainment, visiting with passengers and being an on-board "good-will" ambassador for the company
  • Primarily concerned with passenger entertainment and safety
  • Operate the automated narration system and in between spend time visiting with and greeting the passengers
  • Provide "live" narration as required
  • Boarding / de-boarding passengers
  • Ticket punching
  • Opening / closing the cars at the start / end of the day, and assisting the Conductor and Trainman as required
  • Servicing train toilets
  • Other duties as may be required (Platform Greeter, Group Escort or other)
  • During Holiday Season (November & December) work as Character Manager assisting costumed characters through the trains on a specific schedule.

The candidate will need to pass a position training and safety program. Physical abilities required for climbing up onto and off of train cars, servicing the train, opening / closing windows, fueling generators, servicing restrooms, and other physical duties.

Passenger interaction and entertainment are your primary focus and responsibility. You will welcome, thank and inquire of the passengers as to their satisfaction and enjoyment of their time spent with us.
